Hotel New Gaea Hakata Messe Minami

Great location with friendly staff. We had a brilliant view of some of the shrines from our window. Spotlessly clean. Close to subway stations and so easy to get any where in the city quickly. Lovely neighbourhood with some great places to eat.

Room was a bit too small as we are travelling with luggage as on a long trip.

Good location close to a metro station and easy 25 minutes walking to the main train station or international ferry port.

A 10 for the service. Upon checking into my room, the mini fridge did not appear to be working properly. I let the gentleman at the front desk know and he immediately moved me to a new room. He was very polite and courteous and I appreciate his service. The hotel itself seems to be a standard business hotel. Smaller but adequate rooms. Free bathroom amenities and instant coffee provided in the lobby. Ice machine. Vending machines. Two coin washers and dryers. Fresh towels each day. Location is good. Subway about 5min walk away. A 24hr grocery store there also. I also slept very well here. Mattress was firm but I loved it. Would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others. Thank you.

We made full payment of our stay by credit card before arriving at the Hotel. Once we made the check-in, we were charged a hidden extra ~800 yen for city taxes (relative to 2 days/2 people). This tax value should have been included in the price since the beginning, not something you conveniently add up. I would have chosen another hotel given the total price in the end. But well, we had no choice at that point.
