Poets Cove Resort & Spa

Beautiful, peaceful location.

Poets Cove is a lovely resort on Pender Island. The facility is clean, staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed in the lodge building and the common areas appear to well kept and maintained, our room showed signs of age in terms of scrapes on door frames, ceiling fan that didn't work (several portable fans provided in the closet), There are multiple dining facilities, Aurora is open for breakfast, Syrens for lunch and dinner and the Moorings Cafe was a good spot to pick up coffee, pastry, wrap/sandwich from morning to mid day. We found the food to generally be very good and tried all three locations. We had a lovely balcony on our room that looked out over the harbour, there were 2 comfortable chairs and a small table. It would be better if the dividers between the balconies were higher so that your neighbours can't see you and vice versa. There is ample parking onsite but if you stay at the lodge, best to pull up in front and drop off your luggage at the main lodge building. There are EV chargers on site in one the parking lots, there was a Tesla charging one day and the other charger was available but I couldn't get the app to work properly. Over on far side of the property past the lower pool you can rent kayaks. We rented a two person kayak from Ilya who was very helpful and polite. We went out for a two hour paddle and enjoyed the peaceful and calm journey along the shoreline where we saw lots of starfish. Overall we enjoyed our visit to Poets Cove.

Our family including our cat had a lovely stay in a good-sized villa. The villa we stayed in has gorgeous water views (not all of them have this view), where we could watch the changing sunsets. We saw one of the most intensely coloured sunsets from our villa - just magnificent and nothing we had ever witnessed before. Jill at the spa was wonderful - after a massage with her, I felt so completely relaxed, like jelly. The pool and hot tub are really nice. The pool is very warm and the hot tub is also an excellent temperature. The villa layout is great. The downside is that the villa is not well-maintained. One of the sinks was quite plugged when we got there. One of the curtains was a bit broken, One bathroom light was broken (completely missing and not replaced). Half the windows do not have screens (there are lots of bugs). The beds were comfortable, though, even though all the furniture is dated. Some of the cooking utensils had already melted but we had no choice but to use them. Please also note that in the villas, there is no housekeeping provided. We arrived (staying 8 nights) with only a third of a roll of paper towel, one extra roll of toilet paper in two of the bathrooms (in one, the existing roll was almost gone), so without housekeeping, we were scared things would run out. There was no sponge to wash dishes. Things normally needed we had to make do without. There is no air conditioning (open and close blinds at correct times or it gets too hot!)

Loved our stay here. We came to enjoy Pender Island and the resort was a fantastic start and end point each day. Our room had wonderful views of the calm bay and the setting was absolutely peaceful. We could have just stayed on our large balcony and watch the day go by, it was that great. Will go back again, no question.
