Positives. Staff friendly and helpful, food (dinner and breakfast) was enjoyable and well presented.
Negatives. Decor was tired, handrails need cleaning, room windows need attention.

Ancient coaching inn, much extended and modified, so many awkward staircases to negotiate, but that's all part of the historic charm of British pub hotels!
Excellent car parking - plenty of easy space.
Standard "chain pub" food: clean, fresh, hot and cheerfully served, but not inspired or inspiring. Greene King do, however, know how to brew and serve a proper beer, so overall "satisfactory plus".

Staff were excellent but the hotel room was a bit tired with some general maintenance required. Very hot in the heat wave conditions with only a small desk fan provided and windows unable to be opened more than a few inches. Meal was disappointing. Beer was cold
