Centrally located in town. Tons of restaurants and bars to pick from. Great hotel overall. Only disadvantage is parking is either on street or in a parking garage requiring you to bring your luggage too and from where you park.

The pool is quite shellow and good for laying next to but not really for swimming or dipping intoz

The staff at the hotel were friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The hotel was located perfectly for walking around old town Funchal .
Breakfast a delight .

We had an amazing time at Funchal Barcelo. The staff was extremely nice and treated us so well. We were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of champagne in our room one day - they had seen from our passport that we were celebrating a birthday. Complete shock and unexpected.
Location was great! Close to the water, easy to walk the downtown streets and the rooftop pool was wonderful (although sometimes a bit crowded).
We would recommend Madeira and especially this hotel to anyone who asks. I can't say enough great things about our experience! Looking forward to coming back, hopefully soon!
