Gion Elite Terrace is a great homebase in Kyoto. The hotel is clean, the rooms are incredibly well designed, with comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms, and more. The only downside (which is a larger issue with Kyoto in general) is that the property does not have much authentic Japanese charm or feel because it is largely (75%+) American tourists and staff are perfectly bilingual (a plus, but also a bit disorienting). If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese experience then this likely isn’t for you, but if you was a solid hotel with fantastic levels of comfort then this is for you. The motorized blackout blinds were a huge plus as the sun rises painfully early in summer in Japan (before 5am).

The rooms were sizable and super clean. Came with all the amenities you’d need. I loved the sauna and the oxygen bath. Fantastic central location! I’d definitely stay again!

This hotel was amazing. From the start the staff was very welcoming and friendly. The check in process was smooth. The hotel itself was beautiful. The rooms were very nice and spacious. Great location as well. We will be staying here for sure during our next visit.
