Eight Rest Hostel Myeongdong

Location is ok, 20m from the main myedong area, but very quiet small alley (must find the hat seller, and squuze in its middle. Not so obvious the first time !). Room is very small but clean and quiet (except neighbours sometime). Ramen for free in the kitchen (microwave, tea, coffe, water at discretion, good to warm meals, but no cooking). Personnel was veru friendly and full of good will despite language barrier. Beds were comfy, shower was ok, plenty of good water. Small fridge in the room. Small window (2rd floor) Terrace on the roof at top floor.

Room is very Seoul style, so it is really small. You almost have to go over the bed to get into the bathoom. 3rd bed is useless (for 2 people), and you have to be very careful not to stain the sheets (or towels), if you don't want a fine. For the price, I guess some other parts of the city offer much wider options. Don't let yourself be focused on meyondong which is really so crowed, hyper touristic, totally shopping orientated and rather artifical. Even its night market is so fake, and you almost can't walk with the crowd. Of course, if you DO want to stay in the area, then you may not find as good in the area for such a price.

* Small rooms. * No lift; stairs only. * Bathroom has no separate shower area, so it gets wet easily.

The location is perfectly central for exploring Myeongdong, and the incredibly friendly staff even carried our luggage up to our room. Everything was spotlessly clean with all basic amenities nicely provided. We also really loved relaxing on the beautiful terrace and the brilliant touch of 24/7 ramen in the kitchen!

The hotel lacks an elevator, and the room itself was quite cramped with very little floor space to fully open our suitcases. Additionally, opening the window at night brings in noise from the vibrant nightlife and food odors from the restaurant next door. However, these were just minor inconveniences and didn't stop us from having a great stay overall.
