Casa Caribe Hotel

Lovely terrain with swings, river jump tower, kayaks and a nice pool area. Nice view of the fort and just a short boat ride from Rio Dulce. Room was very spacious and beds good.

The building is crooked and even in bed you can feel the slope. In all it did feel pricey.

This hotel room had a huge and comfortable bed. The shower was hot and had good water pressure. The pool was decent size and the hot tub was a fun addition. The staff were helpful and we loved our free ride over the river to the fort, 100% recommend. The food menu had enough variety for a couple of days (much better than the other reviews had us believe, tacos, burgers, pasta, grilled meat and seafood). The food was tasty and was served in big portions.

The major downside is you feel trapped in the hotel, the boat transport along the river means visiting elsewhere, especially after dark can feel impossible. On our last night we were the only guests and the dinner service felt rushed, we felt we were pressured into ordering food early so the staff could go home. Being done with drinks and dinner by 8pm when there is nowhere else to go makes for a long night. The food can be expensive, especially when it's your only option. The wooden structure of the main building means it is very noisy when guests upstairs move around. There is very limited seating around the pool, it is mainly restaurant style chairs with very few loungers and hammocks to make the area comfy for reading and sunbathing.
