Host: I booked this 5 months prior to our rental date. My grandson was getting married in Cedar Rapids and we had 10 family members coming from Missouri and Nebraska so we thought it would nice to all be together. About 2 weeks prior to our check in date... I received a message stating that our original reservation was not available. That the current people in it were supposed to be out at the end of April but were not... the "owner" said they didn't know when the people would be out so would I like to move to another place - 3 bedroom with 1 bath. That would not of worked for us. I asked them to call me because they also stated they were going to charge me a cancelation fee of 300. if I didn't respond. I did respond and asked if this was a scam. The owner said no and the only other option was another place - 2 Cottage Grove Woods SE... they claimed it was an upgrade because it was bigger than the original booking. Original booking had 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. The "upgrade" had 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. I didn't feel I had an option being so close to the wedding to try to find something else that would work. Kitchen: The kichen refrigerator did not work and was not plugged in. The small refrigerator in the family ras small had ants in it. Both had food in them. No dish or wash cloths. Coffee pot was dirty. The only coffee cups we could find were in the dish washer and still had soap on them. Don't think the dishwasher worked properly either. Only drinking cups were plasti

We did not get to stay as the host made us cancel the reservation. I sent a message to find out about the grill, we booked this place in January knowing that graduation weekend would be busy. They sent a message saying we could not stay and to go in and cancel we would be refunded, we were refunded. It was difficult to find a place to stay for 10 people less than 3 weeks from when we were arriving for a college graduation.

We had 8 adults and 5 children in our group for 3 nights here for a memorable Hawkeye football family weekend. It's older, eclectic and minimalist (kind of a frat house vibe) and could definitely use some TLC. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the driveway is quite steep so we were glad it wasn't icy. We did have a plumbing problem, but Elias was responsive and got a plumber on site the same day (which we VERY much appreciated). We had lots of room for all of us, and we even had plenty of hot water! The two best features were all of the deer and wild turkeys we saw in the woods around the home every day, and the big great room with a nice large TV. We didn't use the inflatable hot tub in the furnace room. A few suggestions that would really improve guest experiences would be to replace the carpets, provide more towels (specifically, nicer towels that are not dollar store quality), clean the windows, and repair non-functioning outlets.

The house was spacious and in quiet neighborhoods but needs major cleaning. Stains on carpet. All bedding are dirty with hair possibly form previous renters. Wet towels/bedding in the washer and more towels and bedding in the dryer. Laundy area downstairs was filthy. Coffee maker not working. Outside of the house unkept. Not worth how much we paid for it.

Good spot for a guys' trip to a football game. Not far from lots of dining options. Directions weren't impeccable, but we got there. Didn't feel like a lot of care was put into having the place look really nice. Not much in the kitchen. Small towels. For four guys, it was suitable. Had our wives been along, they'd have rated lower. Great TV and den area. Great deck, but didn't take advantage.
