Castelfidardo is one of the world’s leading centers for accordion manufacturing, the region’s most significant artisan tradition. The town has gone through two distinct phases: the first in the 1980s, when a thriving industry producing various musical instruments emerged, though over time it suffered from competition from the Asian market; and the second, characterized by a rapid shift in production that consolidated and revitalized the traditional manufacture of the accordion and the organetto. The International Accordion Museum is dedicated to this ancient tradition. Located in the basement of City Hall, it serves as an effective educational resource for tracing the evolutionary stages of the musical instrument, its classification, and all the artisans who have passed down the craft. The Exhibition Hall organizes various events and houses, among other exhibits, the Guinness World Record-holding accordion and organetto. Among the musical events scheduled in the town, don’t miss the International Accordion Prize (PIF), which takes place in September, and the European Music Festival in June.
