Fredericksburg Getaway Adventure - Historic Train Car close to Mains Street!

The pictures don’t do the train car justice. You’re close enough to walk to Main Street and yet it’s secluded. Perfect weekend.

It was a super cool place. The train is not necessarily in prime location but is walking distance to main St. And very close to HEB for supplies. Every thing in the train car seemed unique to the FDR theme. The train is very large and comfortable. Overall we just loved the whole experience of sleeping on a train car. It was so interesting and fun!

The train car was huge and there was lots of room to spread out. There were two bathrooms (one with shower, one with tub), a living room, kitchen and bedroom. The hosts were generous with drinks and other F&W products, as well as gift certificates for their store. I really appreciated those added benefits. However, the bed was very soft, and I had a hard time getting to sleep. My husband slept well, but I was up till 4am each night. I guess I am used to a firmer and larger bed. The location - while sort of close to Main Street and the HEB - was not what I expected. The train car was located in a more industrial area, although it was not far from a park, but not really walking distance from Main Street in the heat of the summer. The steps to get into the train would be difficult for elderly. but Parking was great!
