It was a spacious, modern and clean apartment and in a lovely courtyard setting. It has plenty of kitchen utensils for self catering as an option. It is walkable from the main train station and a few other bus/tram options a short walk away as are shops if you need essentials.

Due to being pregnant the bed was a bit of a struggle to get in and out of comfortably due to being very low down which I didn’t appreciate when booking. The shower was also too high up and didn’t stay properly in the holder which was a bit challenging. The city tax does not get factored into the booking as it may do with other stays. I asked if the host was happy to take a transfer as we didn’t have physical money but we weren’t able to do this for this stay. Thankfully there is an ATM nearby but as fewer places rely on physical money now it would be good if this was an option for future guests like other accommodation.

We really liked the place. It felt very homely and had everything we needed during our stay. The location was also convenient, as it was close to the central train station, which made it much easier to travel to other regions of Belgium. However, there were some downsides to the location as well, which I’ll mention later. I really liked the outside area of the property. It had a nice atmosphere and especially looked great at night with the lights. The people who owned the property were also very accommodating and open to helping with anything we needed. This was especially appreciated towards the end of our stay, when they helped us with the final payment process regarding the tourist tax. They were flexible and helpful throughout the process, and I really appreciated that. Furthermore, my girlfriend slept very well while staying there, and that is particularly important to me. So, for that alone, I have to give the place a thumbs-up.

One thing I didn’t particularly like was the number of mosquitos. My girlfriend had around 10 bites, and allergies have already been something difficult for us to deal with, so this made the stay more uncomfortable. There were also some issues regarding the location itself. Although I had mentioned that I liked the location, I underestimated how difficult it would be to get around on foot, especially at night. During the night, we repeatedly encountered people who made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe. We experienced situations that I would never want to experience again. I won’t go into detail for the sake of anyone reading this, but it did make us feel uneasy about walking to and from the place where we were staying. Because of this, I would suggest that future guests be given a little more information or caution about going out on foot at night, particularly if they are unfamiliar with the area. It wasn't something we expected, and it significantly affected how comfortable we felt during our stay.
