Calista Trendy Hotel & Spa

The staff here went above and beyond from the moment we booked online. We received a WhatsApp message confirming our room, along with pictures and even a video of the room. I thought this was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. I spoke mostly with Amanda online before we even arrived, and she was absolutely amazing from start to finish. At one point, I needed help with a sleeper bus I had booked. I hadn’t received any confirmation after paying, and being on the other side of the world, I started to panic. I reached out to Amanda for help, even though this was clearly well outside her actual job role. Within minutes, she had managed to get the bus company to contact me! She was incredibly responsive and helpful with every question I had, and I really appreciated the reassurance and support. It was also my son’s 18th birthday during our stay. Despite our late arrival, the staff brought a birthday cake to our room and sang to him. It was such a lovely, thoughtful gesture and made his birthday feel extra special. The staff were truly exceptional. Their kindness, responsiveness and willingness to go above and beyond are what really make this hotel. They were, without a doubt, the highlight of our stay.

Firstly, we were not staying in the main hotel. As I had booked a two-bedroom apartment, I wasn’t aware that it was located in a separate building just around the corner. This wasn’t a major issue, but this was also not made clear to us when booking, however, the staff were incredibly helpful in assisting us with our luggage, even in the torrential rain. Unfortunately, as we walked the 20 seconds to the other building in the pouring rain, my son slipped and fell heavily on the wet marble stairs going down to reception. Thankfully, he had a large backpack on, as I genuinely think the outcome could have been very different had he not. These stairs were extremely hazardous throughout the three days we stayed, as it rained constantly and the stairs remained wet. What concerned me even more was that, immediately after my son fell, another guest who was checking in, an older gentleman, told us that he had also just fallen, and that his wife had nearly fallen too. Given this, I would have expected the hotel to take additional precautions, such as drying them regularly or placing rubber mats or other non-slip protection there. This would help keep both guests and staff safe. I had changed my original booking from a triple room to a two-bedroom apartment, entirely my choice, as I wanted my son to have his own room. The extra space in the apartment was great, but unfortunately, the apartment itself definitely needs some attention and updating. Although it was clean enough, it felt dated and tired, walls marked and dirty looking, and the furnishings and facilities were very basic. I also found it quite dingy, particularly as there were no windows. Breakfast was okay — I’ve had better, but I’ve certainly had worse. Small and mostly the same stuff. Bed was hard, but I come to find that this is all of Vietnam, and not just here!! That said, the staff are absolutely what make this place. 100%. Every member of staff we encountered was amazing, friendly, and very kind.
