Fern House

Lovely stay (one night in Oct 2026) in a room with individual bathroom. The space was super cozy. Very good shared spaces too and perfect for a short stay. The house itself is on top of a hill, around 20 min walk from the bus station. There are also buses (6-7 min journey). Restaurants and pharmacy within a 5 min walk reach. Solo female traveler approved!

musty room and musty throughout the house, house and room not heated although thanks - Lucas put on the heating in my room when I asked, but it didn't stay on and the morning was cold! Tight kitchen space and one small table to sit at for breakfast, (tricky to manage with other guests who are strangers). The experience felt like staying in a student house, comfortable but lacking a feeling of privacy. Good overall but should be half the price when I compare it with similar accommodation nationwide.

It is very close to the city centre.

This place is geared to a solo traveler who needs to stay for a while. It has a lovely sunroom and living room, and there was a nice kitchen, all of which really wasn't useful for a 2 night stay. There was a good pub and pizza place a block away, and there were several buses that stopped on the same block that headed downtown, so getting around without a car was easy.

The room was very small, and it had a shared bath with around 5 other guestrooms. Although I thought it would be a nightmare, it wasn't so bad. Didn't like grey sheets and black towels - they might be a design choice, but never seem altogether clean (you can't bleach black). Finding the place and parking was a nightmare (it is located up a walkway, along a walking path above the street level, and initially parking was a couple of blocks away. We were able to move the car closer the first evening. Lucky we were there on a weekend as parking is by permit the rest of the time. Altho there was no 'staff', the 'host' was available via text and provided answers quickly.
