Health hazard, lack of hygiene, missing information and not enought hot water for 6 people…
Health Hazard,
More often than not, when you go on vacation, there's a trip involved where you travel for at least a couple of hours. That was the case for us. And when you arrive at your vacation home needing to use the bathroom, the last thing you expect is to have to clean the whole toilet seat before being able to use it because it is covered in pee stains. Not the best start to a vacation. Then, when you go to take a shower, you realize that no one has used any cleaning products on that bathtub for at least 2 months and you have to grab your cleaning gloves for another 30 minutes of house cleaning. And the cherry on top is when we called the host and she asked us to clean the entire apartment while saying "it must have been the previous guests". On our first night in the apartment we quickly realized that the heated water tank was far from sufficient for the 6 of us to take a shower and we thought that there was an issue with the water heater to which the host replied "we have no way to go there this weekend" and "I don't know what to do and there are people coming for vacation after you".
This shows that there are no health or inspection checks between guests and a complete disregard for the fact that we're supposed to be on vacation, enjoying our time, not spending it deep cleaning and troubleshooting the apartment. The huge amount of hairs found on the mattress and pillow covers was also a good indicator of that.
That's also probably why the host insisted on reminding us at least 6 times that we leave the apartment before the departure time while completely forgetting to mention important details, such as the fact that the rental didn't have bed sheets, blankets or pillowcases which we probably wouldn't have known about if we hadn't asked the day before arrival.
The ad also says the apartment says it's "ski-to-door" (Pied des pistes) when it is at least minutes away by car.
