Charming Cottage on the Mississipi River

Fabulous location right on the Mississippi River with comfy seating to watch boats and barges go by. Interior was nicely renovated from an historical building. Kitchen and bath were great. Nice walking around neighborhood.

Door locks and key lock box were very hard to operate. Luckily Micah, the manager, was nearby and reset the key box, but we continued to have problems with the doors. Bring your own food, as there is only a Dollar General nearby. A hair dryer in the apartment would be nice.

EVERYTHING!!! Not far off I80 for our 1/2 way stop to visit family in Michigan. We usually stay in LeClair, but this listing intriqued us with it's riverfront property, historic roots, and spaciousness and we'll admit, price! We only stayed one night, but a great place for longer with a full kitchen and well supplied. We were able to utilize the fridge and freezer to keep some items we had frozen. My husband said it reminded him of Huckleberry Finn! We loved the deck and bought wood for a campfire from the gas station right up the street as we drove into town. The community was so quiet and reminded us of a quiet coastal town although much less busy, which was so nice. QUIET! People were walking their dogs and friendly. Surrounding neighborhood was well kept up. Communication with Will pre-during-post was fantastic. We struggled with the door locks and he had Micah, who lives upstairs come down and assist us. They have menus for several restaurants available. Fun indoor bar area and outdoor bar on deck too. We felt like we should be having a social gathering. TV's in bedroom, living room and outside! Would be a fun place to watch a game with friends! If you've always crossed the Mississippi and looked down at the homes on the river and wondered what the experience would be like to live or stay on it, try this place out. You won't be disappointed unless you don't like history. Better than any hotel stay we've had! We will definitely come back on our next 1/2 way stop. We'll plan to arrive earlier next time to linger longer!

That we couldn't stay longer and linger on the back deck with a cup of coffee and a good book! Would love to have watched the barges move on. Be aware, that restaurants are not readily available in proximity, but not too far. Or, because there is a full kitchen and grill, plan to bring food and cook there. Hand soap, dish soap available. Tolietries were noted on the listing, but there was no shampoo or body soap that we could find. Luckily, we had our own. This didn't hinder our great experience, and for the cost of such a great place, no bother to use our own, just glad we had it.

It is right on the Mississippi River as described. The back deck and dock are amazing to sit in the evening and watch the boats and stars at night.

Very quiet neighborhood, lots of space, comfortable furnishings, and of course the incredible Mississippi River mere yards away. I also appreciated the history of the cottage, once a general store. I had my typewriter with me and was stirred to write plenty of essays. I hope to return in autumn for a more extended stay. Oh, the hosts were great; very easy to work with for access and any additional needs.
