This was my first hostel experience and I was pretty happy with my stay. I elected for a private room but there was a bit of a mix up and I ended up in one of the female dorms. The management was incredibly accommodating and blocked anyone else from booking the room, allowing me to stay solo in a space meant for 2. The room was sparse but comfortable and the shared spaces were well-appointed and well-kept. Situated between Ybor and Downtown, the house is in a convenient, albeit bustling area. I was very glad I brought ear plugs for sleeping because there is definitely a lot of traffic noise! It's a rougher neighborhood, but I never felt unsafe as a solo female traveler. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by Palm Villas, especially given the price, and would happily stay there again.
