Suan Cottage

A Tranquil Lakeshore Escape

Step into the peaceful embrace of Suan Cottage, where the name itself – meaning “sleep” in Gaelic – sets the tone for a restful and rejuvenating retreat.

Nestled just off the coveted Lakeshore Drive in Saugatuck/Douglas, this charming woodland escape invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature.

From the moment you arrive, you'll feel the soothing presence of towering trees, the rustling of leaves, and the gentle calls of birds overhead. Wake up to the distant sound of waves rolling onto the Lake Michigan shore, and in the evening, take a short stroll to the end of the private drive to witness breathtaking sunsets over the lake – an unforgettable way to end each day.

Suan Cottage offers the perfect balance of outdoor adventure and cozy relaxation. Spend your days exploring nearby beaches, from Douglas Beach (1.3 miles away) to the famous Oval Beach, Pier Cove, and Saugatuck Dunes State Park. Take a leisurely walk or bike ride along Lakeshore Drive with the shimmering lake as your backdrop.

Venture into the nearby towns of Saugatuck, Douglas, Fennville, and Glenn, each offering unique boutiques, art galleries, wineries, and farm-to-table dining. Suan Cottage is conveniently located less than 10 minutes from the downtown shops and restaurants in Suagautck and Douglas, while still offering a quiet setting in nature.

Back at the cottage, unwind on the screened porch, a peaceful sanctuary where you can sip your morning coffee, curl up with a book, or simply enjoy the fresh breeze. Gather around the outdoor fire pit under a canopy of stars, sharing stories and roasting marshmallows with loved ones. The picnic table provides the perfect spot for al fresco meals surrounded by nature.

Inside, the open-concept living room, dining room, and kitchen create a warm and welcoming space for connection. Enjoy cozy nights by the seasonal gas fireplace, cook meals together in the fully equipped kitchen, and share laughter around the dining table.

The primary suite on the main level offers a private retreat with a king bed and an ensuite bathroom. Upstairs, two additional bedrooms provide comfortable accommodation for family or friends. The spacious upper-level bathroom features a jetted soaking tub, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.

Whether you're seeking a quiet escape in the woods or a home base for beach days, wine tastings, and boutique shopping, Suan Cottage is your haven. Come experience the magic of the lakeshore, where nature's rhythm sets the pace, and every moment invites you to relax, explore, and make lasting memories.
