Charming detached 2 bedroom cottage with large private pool, gorgeous views, set in 30 hectares of land, and only 5 minutes from Barga! WIFI What a treat!
Turello is a lovely detached 2 bedroom cottage set in total seclusion with a private pool. The house is set in extensive grounds (30 hectares!), including vines and chestnut woods, and has terrific views over to Barga and the mountains beyond. This is a really peaceful retreat, yet a very short drive to the beautiful city of Barga!
The house:
On the ground floor there is a spacious well equipped kitchen/diner, with washing machine, dishwasher, oven, hob and microwave as well as a fridge/freezer. Fireplace. Door leading to covered eating area.
The kitchen leads through open plan to the living room which has large double doors looking out on the garden.
Also on the ground floor is a shower room with WC, sink and shower.
Upstairs, via a spiral staircase (or via outside if guests prefer) there are two bedooms - a twin, which leads through to a double. Both rooms have doors leading outside and a single sofa bed.

The piece di resistance for this house has to be the grounds!
There is a good sized private pool at 10 x 5m.

Large sunbathing patio.
Covered area for al fresco dining in the shade.
BBQ and wood burning pizza/bread oven
30 hectares of land to play, relax or picnic! Complete with olive trees, chestnut woods, flat ground for playing.
Stunning views at every turn!

NB: Last part of approach road is very steep, but perfectly do-able in an ordinary car.

We were lucky enough to spend three wonderful weeks in this charming, rustic retreat—even though we had a bit of bad luck with the weather. Far away from the typical tourist hustle and bustle, surrounded by pure nature and the nighttime sounds of roaming, grunting wild boars, squeaking foxes, and growling wolves, we truly enjoyed our evenings. Even the thunderstorms were quite impressive.Amedeo, the seasoned old adventurer, was a kind and helpful host. He was always there when we had a problem—like with the washing machine or a power outage due to a heavy storm. But for us, that’s all part of the experience.We especially loved the amazing pool and the homemade pizzas from the wood-fired oven—definitely a highlight and a must!The drive to the house is quite the challenge, with some very steep and narrow 180-degree turns. It was doable with our Cascada, though definitely sporty . Large SUVs might not be ideal due to their size—but that’s just our personal impression. Just be aware .Another highlight: there were hardly any bees, wasps, or especially horseflies. We’ve had very different experiences in similar holiday homes. The surrounding area offers everything you need—restaurants, shops, Lucca is not far, and from Barga you can take the train to Florence. The landscape and all the little villages are simply dreamy.Despite the occasional bad weather and the adventurous road to the house, we thoroughly enjoyed it!

We recieved a warm welcome by Mr. Chiappa, and the place is truly wonderful. The house itself is compact (and the stairs even more so), but large enough for the 4 of us. Everything felt fresh and clean. Mr. Chiappa also provided us with a box full of home grown tomatos, cougettes, cucumbers and herbs. They tasted perfectly.The house is also very well equipped with everything you might need. The road up to the house is narrow, and sometimes (very) steep. Although it gets easier everytime you drive up, I don't think it will ever really be easy. A car with sufficient torque and perhaps even 4wd would definitely help (but we also managed with 2wd SUV).But again, the place itself is like a small hidden jewel, and we thoroughly enjoyed spending two weeks here.

This was our second holiday at Il Turello, and that says a lot. We are a family of four from Copenhagen (mom, dad and two boys age 11 and 12) and we simply love this house and place. Amadeo, the houseowner, and his wife are the most friendly hosts, Amadeo was available and helpful during our stay, but also let us have our privacy. The house has everything you need, and is very clean and well equipped. The wifi works perfectly - both inside and outside. But the best about the house is the total amazing view and quietness way up high in the maintains. The house is indeed very far away from it all, and we loved it. The house is located so beautifully with a steep drive up the hill. The house has a wooden fired original pizza oven that we used almost every night, it was so much fun also for our boys. The private pool is very big and clean. We all loved that.
We would definately like to come back again for a third time :)
