A private and quiet setting overlooking the Apostle Islands National Park. Relaxing getaway for two or plenty of space for a gathering of sixteen.
Enjoy enchanting glimpses of wildlife; deer at dawn, lake trout and salmon migrating in spring and fall. The extra-wide, permanent dock reaches 140' into Lake Superior and provides a perfect place to relax on the adirondack chairs and watch children at play or enjoy a serene moment at sunset.
Our architecturally designed cottage has an old world feel. The all-wood interior on the main and upper floors, most of which is milled from old growth Douglas Fir timbers, lend warmth and character to the home. The wrap-around screen porch provides protected outdoor space for dining, reading, playing cards or taking an afternoon nap. The fieldstone rumsford fireplace will take the evening chill out of the air and the 12' dining table will seat a crowd for special meals prepared in the gourmet kitchen.
The lower level 'rainy day' room features table tennis, a kids rock-climbing wall, a large flat screen TV monitor with AppleTV. An electric keyboard and an acoustic guitar is there waiting to be strummed. Plenty of books, games and puzzles line the shelves throughout the home.
We are 7 miles from the town of LaPointe where you'll find restaurants, bars, ice cream and souvenir shopping. There are tennis courts available as well as a Robert Trent Jones-designed golf course. Moped, kayak and bicycle rental also available. Take the ferry over to Bayfield for a day trip of shopping and dinner out.

The most amazing spot you could ask for. The beautiful woodwork of the home to the screened in porch, dong let me forget about the beautiful sunsets you get to witness every night. AMAZING.

We had a great stay and enjoyed using the indoor fireplace! The house was very clean and the kitchen was so nice for making our meals!

We have a long history of spending Labor Day weekend on the Island and have stayed at many of the notable VRBO’s here . This is an outstanding property and my personal favorite . My husband and I spent a total of 8 wonderful nights here with our 3 adult children , their spouses , and 4 of my 5 grandchildren ages 2-9 .We utilized all of the sleeping spaces with the exception of the reading nook. The weather was perfect !As a lover of fine architecture (and also of fine cooking ),I commend Dale Mulfinger and the Brunker family for creating this masterpiece !The cabin is superbly and brilliantly designed and perfectly furnished.It was like it was penned from the beginning of the design in its formulative stage to feel like an historic and treasured family cabin “born “before it was even built with a patina of “warmth”,“love “,and “home “. We enjoyed beach time and picnics on 3 other islands in our boat , games , reading and puzzle time in the wonderful “Away Room”,great meals in the lovely kitchen , and dance parties with the grand kids on the covered porch ,fires in the beautiful and superbly engineered Rumsford fireplace.Sadly prior to coming here , at 73years young,I had had an accident which resulted in a broken foot so I never made it down the path to the dock .But everyone else did and enjoyed swimming and dock time there! Beautiful memories !What a warm , lovely , and magical space !Thank you for sharing it with my family !- The Schnell family from Duluth -
