Welcome to The Lake Cabins Resort! Built in the early 1940s, our resort is steeped in local history and offers a perfect blend of rustic getaway charm and modern amenities.
Please Note: The resort consists of two separate rental options: The Lake House and the 6 individual log cabins. This listing is specifically for the rental of Lakeview Cabin 1.
Resort Amenities & Waterfront
The Beach: Enjoy 100 feet of pristine beachfront on the all-sports, 617-acre Fife Lake—voted the best inland lake in Northern Michigan. The water is shallow right off our dock, making it a comfortable spot for kids to swim.
Water Sports: Guests enjoy complimentary use of our kayaks and paddleboards. Boat rentals are also available for experienced boaters if you'd like to cruise the lake to spot local eagles and loon nests.
Seasonal Note: The beach area closes the last weekend in September, and docks are removed for the winter.
Accommodations:
Cabin 6 has two bedrooms plus two futons that convert to double beds. It is approximately 500 square feet and comfortably sleeps up to six adults or up to eight guests if some are smaller children. This cabin also offers a beautiful lake view from the living room window.
The Log Cabins: Fully restored authentic log cabins featuring updated, modern kitchens and premium upgrades—ideal for couples or smaller families looking for a cozy retreat.
The Location
Fife Lake sits right in the center of Northern Michigan’s best outdoor recreation. The property was nice and so were the owners. My issue lies in the attempt to get us to pay a "security deposit " after we had driven 3 hours to get there. The laundry list of penalty payments was a bit ridiculous and I didn't feel comfortable paying twice and outside of Vrbo agreement. My second issue was the owner patrolling the grounds like a security guard. It felt really uncomfortable. Lastly, the beach was the size a postage stamp and my gf and I had kids jumping over us for the short time we actually attempted to use it. I was pretty disappointed but since it was 30 mins from Traverse City we were able to salvage a decent trip. I'm definitely rethinking the whole "rent my private place" thing though.
