Such a fab place to stay! Everything is super comfortable and cosy and the stocked kitchen surprisingly generous. Loved the outdoor bath - anytime of day as the setting is wonderfully private. Ōkārito is incredibly special. The lagoon and waterways, the ocean, the wildlife and birdsong, the forest, the mountains - there is nowhere else in the world like this! Having a great dwelling really contributed to the entire awesome experience. 100% recommend. And such good comms with the host - so easy!

Cottage was difficult to find. Elicited the help of a friendly local. Very clean and comfortable inside but surrounded by bushes on the outside. Great quiet getaway but make sure you have all your supplies. Good kitchen facilities. Comfy bed. Enjoyed our stay

This place has potential, but a few issues made the stay less comfortable than expected.There were quite a few cobwebs around the ceilings, windows, and curtains, and the floors weren’t clean. Mosquitoes were also a problem. We think the TV remote didn’t have batteries, so the TV couldn’t be used during our stay.Several spaces were taken up with cleaning equipment - the wardrobe was full of a vacuum and trolley, the bathroom vanity had cleaning supplies stored inside, and there was a dirty broom head-up in the laundry. The internet modem was also sitting in the middle of the bathroom floor, which was a bit odd.Some basic items were missing at first (like tissues, no bathroom bin), and the shower drained quite slowly. However, the host did respond helpfully and provided a few of the missing amenities, including a hairdryer and face towels, which we appreciated.On the positive side, the bed was comfortable, and having a full kitchen was convenient for self catering.With a deep clean and some attention to maintenance, this could be a much nicer stay. Hopefully these points help future guests and the host make a few simple improvements.
