Keki is a cozy studio apartment for two people, located inside an elegant building that also houses the University of Padua’s guesthouse. There is a 24-hour concierge service, ensuring peace of mind and security during your stay.

Inside, you’ll find a bright and modern space that looks directly out onto Piazza Portello, the heart of this vibrant neighborhood frequented mostly by students. The two large double-paned windows ensure excellent insulation from outside noise.

The kitchenette is, in fact, a fully equipped kitchen, complete with everything we think you might need: pots, pans, utensils, cutlery, plates, glasses, mugs, and coffee cups. There’s always some salt, sugar, spices, coffee, tea, oil, vinegar, and cleaning supplies available.
The large table is perfect for enjoying your meals in comfort, but also for working on your computer.
In the cabinets near the table, you’ll find a collection of flyers, maps, and tourist brochures, as well as information on local restaurants and the house manual.

The sleeping area consists of a practical and comfortable sofa bed, equipped with a simple opening mechanism, a high-quality foam mattress of standard height (20 cm), and a reinforced wooden slat base—everything you need to ensure maximum comfort for your nights.
The overhead cabinet above the sofa maximizes space for storing your clothes and personal belongings. You’ll also find extra pillows and blankets in these cabinets.
With the sofa folded up, you can spend pleasant hours reading or watching TV without feeling like you’re constantly in a bedroom.

The bathroom (without windows) is spacious, featuring a sink, bidet, toilet, large shower stall, and a washer-dryer. Here you’ll find a hair dryer, some soap, shower gel, and shampoo, toilet paper, and laundry detergent (enough for a day or two, giving you time to go shopping).

In the large closet in the entryway, you’ll also find an iron, a vacuum cleaner, and other cleaning supplies, as well as a clothesline. Also in the entryway is the room thermostat, which you can use to adjust the indoor temperature for the central heating and cooling system.
Summers in Veneto can be hot and humid, so we recommend closing the windows and drawing the shades during the day to limit solar radiation and thus reduce the heat inside: this will make cooling the apartment easier, and the environment will thank you!

The apartment is located on the first floor (with an elevator), so Keki is suitable for guests with limited mobility, but not for wheelchair users.

As soon as you step out of the building, on Piazza Portello, you’ll find restaurants, bars, a tobacco shop, and a supermarket open 7 days a week (8 a.m.–10 p.m.). In the neighborhood, you’ll find all other shops, such as a pharmacy, a stationery store, and a bank.

WHY “KEKI”?
We drew inspiration from the history of the Portello neighborhood and its residents. Portello was Padua’s small port, where people and goods arrived and departed. From the Middle Ages onward, this neighborhood was one of the most thriving and bustling in Padua, until the 19th century, when, with the advent of the railroad, the hub of traffic shifted, leaving Portello to face a period of decline and neglect. Thus, a distinct neighborhood emerged, somewhat closed off from the rest of the city, where the “porteati” (the residents of Portello)—mostly fruit merchants
—developed customs and traditions distinct from the rest of Padua, and even a distinct dialectal slang. It is precisely from the slang of the “porteati” that “Keki” derives: “going to Keki” meant “having luck at cards,” a much-loved pastime that took place right in Piazza Portello, on the very same stalls where fruit was sold, once the sales were over. And so Keki is meant to be a wish for good luck for Portello, which in recent years—thanks in part to the University of Padua—has reopened to the world and is regaining its former splendor, a mosaic of different cultures, colors, and languages. And a wish for our guests: may your stay at Keki bring you a little luck, too!

If you have a car, you may have trouble parking near Keki: there is no reserved parking spot, and nearby parking lots all require payment (€1.50 per hour).

Our apartment is perfect for working from home; the Wi-Fi connection is stable and fast. The pandemic has taught us that, in addition to taking our usual care in cleaning all surfaces, it’s best to wait at least 24 hours between guests to ensure maximum safety for both us and our guests.

FLEXIBLE CANCELLATION (VOUCHER OR REFUND)
Book your stay with confidence: we’ve adopted “flexible” cancellation terms, so you can change your mind even at the last minute and reschedule your stay for another time. Of course, as an alternative, you’re entitled to a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of the start of your stay.

A SUSTAINABLE STAY
We strive to do our part to help protect our planet. Sheets and towels are washed on long cycles at low temperatures, using eco-friendly detergents with minimal fragrance to prevent allergic reactions. We prioritize bulk purchases or loose items in our inventory to minimize packaging. We’ve chosen a sustainable electricity provider, replaced the windows and doors, and installed energy-efficient light bulbs wherever possible; and when appliances cannot be repaired, we are committed to replacing them with new ones rated Class A.
We are committed to cleaning the apartment with eco-friendly detergents and methods, often made by us using recipes recommended by the WHO or major consumer associations. If you’d like more information, we’d be happy to share our recipes with you!
We’d appreciate it if you’d support our efforts by following these simple guidelines: Please follow the recycling guidelines: separate food waste, paper, and glass, plastic, and cans (which go together), so that as much as possible can be recycled and as little unsorted waste as possible is produced. If you don’t use all the spare towels and sheets, please leave them folded as you found them: the environment will thank you.
