Welcome to Between Two Sands, our family beach house tucked away on a quiet private road in the heart of York Beach.

The name says it all: we’re located between Long Sands and Short Sands, giving you easy access to both sides of York Beach while still feeling removed from the busiest streets.

Local pedestrian cut-throughs make the actual walk shorter than the driving route shown on some maps and booking platforms, so guests can leave the car behind and walk to the beaches, York’s Wild Kingdom, restaurants, shops, ice cream and downtown York Beach.

It’s the best of both worlds: close to everything, but tucked away enough to relax.

We also continue to update and improve the house each season. Recent improvements include a refreshed kitchen, new sink and faucet, new backsplash and hardware, a new water heater, a new grill and comfort-focused updates throughout the property.

THE HOUSE

Between Two Sands is a comfortable four-bedroom beach house designed for families and groups of up to 10.

This is our family’s beach house, not a generic rental, and we’ve tried to stock it with the things that make a beach vacation easier.

The house has a casual, comfortable feel — a place where everyone can come home sandy from the beach, rinse off outside and settle in for the evening.

WALK TO LONG SANDS AND SHORT SANDS

One of the things that makes Between Two Sands special is the location.

You don’t have to choose between staying near Long Sands or Short Sands because you can enjoy both.

**Long Sands** is an easy walk for beach days, morning walks and sunsets.

**Short Sands** is also walkable for restaurants, shops, York’s Wild Kingdom, the arcade, ice cream and the heart of York Beach.

Because of local pedestrian cut-throughs, the walking route is shorter than the driving route that may appear on some online maps.

Many guests find they can park the car when they arrive and use it very little during the week.

SCREENED PORCH

The screened porch is one of the most-loved spaces at Between Two Sands.

It’s a great spot for:

- Morning coffee
- Reading after the beach
- Family meals
- Card games
- Evening drinks
- Relaxing while the kids play outside

It gives you another comfortable living space while still letting you enjoy the Maine summer air.

OUTDOOR LIVING

Summer vacations here tend to spill outside.

After the beach, rinse off in the hot and cold outdoor shower, fire up the grill, play a game in the yard and finish the night around the fire pit.

The outdoor shower is especially useful for families coming home from the beach and helps keep sand outside where it belongs.

Our grill has also recently been replaced, making outdoor dinners even easier.

REFRESHED KITCHEN

The kitchen has recently been updated with:

- Painted cabinetry
- New hardware
- New sink, garbage disposal, and faucet

It’s stocked for everyday vacation cooking, whether you’re making breakfast before the beach, packing lunches or cooking dinner at home.

You’ll find cookware, dishes, glassware, utensils and everyday kitchen essentials.

**Please note:** the house does not currently have a dishwasher.

We prefer to be upfront about that so guests know exactly what to expect before booking.

The home has four bedrooms and sleeps up to 10.

**Bedroom 4:** Queen and bunk bed (twin over full)

Fresh linens and pillows are provided.

The bedrooms are simple, comfortable and designed for guests who plan to spend their days enjoying York Beach.

BEACH DAYS MADE EASIER

Vacationing with kids requires a lot of gear, so we try to make packing a little easier.

Guests have access to a selection of beach and family items, which may include:

- Beach chairs
- Beach wagon or cart
- Beach toys
- Boogie boards
- Outdoor games
- Family games

MADE FOR FAMILIES

Between Two Sands works especially well for families.

There’s room to spread out, space to gather together and plenty to do within walking distance.

Kids can head to the beach, York’s Wild Kingdom, the arcade or ice cream, while adults can enjoy the screened porch, yard and fire pit.

We’ve hosted families who return year after year, and many of our favorite guest comments mention the location, screened porch, outdoor shower and how easy it is to settle in and feel at home.

QUIET LOCATION, CLOSE TO EVERYTHING

The house sits on a private dirt road, which helps create a quieter setting even though you’re close to the center of York Beach.

You can spend the day surrounded by beach-town activity and then come home to a more peaceful place to unwind.

That contrast is a big part of what makes Between Two Sands special.

THOUGHTFULLY MAINTAINED

Because this is our family’s beach house, we continue to invest in it each year.

Recent improvements include:

- Refreshed kitchen cabinetry, hardware, sink, faucet

- Improvements to reduce noise from the home’s water-filtration system
- Ongoing updates to furnishings and guest amenities

Our goal isn’t to turn the house into a resort. It’s to keep improving the things that make a family beach week comfortable, easy and fun.

Between Two Sands is a traditional Maine beach house rather than a luxury resort property.

If you’re looking for marble bathrooms and hotel-style finishes, there may be newer properties that are a better fit.

If you want a welcoming family beach house with character, outdoor space, an easy walk to both Long Sands and Short Sands and a location that lets you enjoy York Beach without constantly getting in the car, we think you’ll feel right at home here.
