Tucked away in Chipping Norton is Upper Barn, a contemporary Cotswold holiday home which sleeps six guests, in three comfortable bedrooms, with two bathrooms. This 18th century barn has been beautifully converted into a wonderful retreat with a social open plan layout to the living space across the ground floor. Upper Barn is perfect across the seasons, with an inviting corner sofa complete with cosy fire for the cooler months and the outside decked patio providing a relaxing spot to soak in the hot tub. Upper Barn also welcomes one medium sized dog, so they can join in the holiday too!

Upper barn was an excellent location just off Chipping Norton High Street, and although a looking a little tired with many scrapes on the paintwork and poorly matched paint on the lounge ceiling where a repair had previously been made, it was essentially as pictured on the website.
However some aspects were disappointing - in particular that the spa was leaking. We were not told this in advance, but were only advised of the problem when we arrived and told we just needed to top it up each morning, which we did. Unfortunately once a day top up was obviously not sufficient as by the time we wanted to use it in the late afternoon/evening the level had returned to the same half full level which we then had to refill with cold water before the jets could operate. So at best we were only able to have a lukewarm spa- okay on very hot days, but not ideal, and not what we were looking forward too. I think I am most annoyed that I was not contacted in advance and possible alternatives, eg alternative accommodation with a non-leaking spa suggested.
Other irritations were that the hairdryer was broken, there was a hole in the bottom of one of the cafetieres and one of the outside metal chairs was broken (screws missing so seat not fully connected to the legs). I left notes on each of these when we left so hopefully they will now have now been attended to. There was also insufficient toilet paper to last for a week long stay and no basic items such as kitchen roll and body wash that I would have expected to have been provided for such a stay.
Overall we had a nice week in the Cotswolds, but there is certainly room for improvement in what is provided at Upper Barn and communication with regards to the repair required, and usability of, one of its advertised key features.

We had a wonderful stay at Upper Barn. It was perfect for our family of five. The location is excellent, with lovely pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, and a supermarket all close by. The hot tub was a real highlight and a big hit with everyone. Everything was thoughtfully prepared—the bedding and towels were provided in good quantity, and all essentials (such as toilet paper and dishwasher tablets) were well stocked and clearly organized. Thank you very much for a fantastic stay!

We have just returned from a New Years break at Upper Barn and had a fantastic time as a party of 6 + 1 dog. The cottage is beautiful, very clean and is equipped with everything you need for a break away. The log fire creates a cosy environment and the hot tub is delightful. We did find the owner difficult to contact ahead of our visit when requesting early check-in. Despite calling a number of times and leaving a message nobody got back to us which was disappointing (especially given the contact number was also the emergency contact number that nobody was responding to). Overall a great stay and would recommend.

We arrived to find the hot tub was cold . Inadequate parking for a party if six . Broken chair in kitchen which my Grandson almost fell off .Very soiled seat pads .
Broken chair in bedroom very dangerous lamp not working .Dog hairs found on headboard.
Our Grandson lost his dinky car under the settee !We pulled it out and was horrified at the filth and litter underneath.
Very very disappointed with our stay and a complete waste of of money .
