On the ground floor is a fully fitted kitchen/diner with traditional farmhouse table and chairs, double range master gas oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and microwave.
The lounge is furnished with a comfortable grey three piece suite, wall unit with plenty of books, and TV with Netflix included.
On the first floor there are two pretty bedrooms nicely decorated with quality oak furniture and cool crisp bed linens. The double bedroom room has plenty of storage space with bedside tables, wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is room for a cot if required. The second bedroom has two single beds, bedside table, wardrobe, chest of drawers. Both bedrooms have original cast iron fireplaces, stunning views of Skiddaw plus well co-ordinated soft furnishings & decoration.
The bathroom has a Victorian Suite with roll top bath and over head shower. Towels are provided.
There is a small enclosed garden to the front and one offset to the rear of the property which is accessed by descending wooden steps from the elevated patio area at the back door . The lawned rear garden is south facing with garden furniture for alfresco dining. Just beyond the rear fence are the two allocated parking spaces.

We had a wonderful five-day stay at Tawny Cottage in Portinscale in mid-May. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very cosy, and it was such a lovely touch to find the heating already on when we arrived. The kitchen was exceedingly well equipped, which made self-catering easy, and the beds were very comfortable, so we slept really well throughout our stay.
The location was excellent too - close to The Farmer’s Arms, a traditional pub serving good food, and with easy access to Keswick while still being far enough away to avoid the bustle of the town itself. We also found the app really useful, not just for arrival directions and check-in details, but for all the helpful suggestions on places to visit and places to eat. Overall, Tawny Cottage was a fantastic base for a relaxing break in the Lake District, and we would happily recommend it.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful village with easy access into Keswick Town. Would definitely book again.

We have recently returned from a 4 night break at Tawny cottage.
Already knowing the Keswick area well we knew Portinscale would suit us well - outside the bustle of Keswick but within easy walking distance down a nice path, and easy access to local country walks.
The cottage was immaculate in both cleanliness and decor - and well equipped - with off street parking.
Our adult daughter had the 2nd bedroom with 2 single beds ( would have been a perk if was 2 singles which could be set up as a King size by request ) - but manageable for her as a single for 4 days .
Lovely having an open fire for evenings - and the kitchen and lounge are very roomy.
We would definitely return to Tawny and can recommend.
Only blight of stay was spending 1 day of the stay with no water and a further 1.5 days with low pressure which meant we couldn’t use the shower.
Keswick cottages were good in their support although I did spend multiple phone calls to United Utilities ( local water company) myself.
However this was not a problem with the property- it was a regional water supply problem to Portinscale which was unfortunate for us - so I did not let this affect my star rating.
To conclude would recommend - nothing to fault - thank you !

Lovely cottage, very comfortable, well presented and equipped. We will check Tawny Cottage availability first when next visiting the Lakes.
