The Walnut at Alarka Highlands is located about a 30 minute drive from downtown Bryson City, where you will find The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, and many delicious restaurants and boutique shops. The Cherokee Indian Reservation is located about 45 minutes away, where you can find the entrance to the National Park and Harrah's Cherokee Casino. Also located in a 45 minute drive is the Nantahala River Gorge where you can find whitewater rafting, kayaking, and zip-lines.

During the winter months - January - February - until mid-March - Four Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive is Highly recommended for ease of access for this high elevation cabin.
