Just a stone’s throw away is Lake Vyrnwy, a Victorian dam constructed in the 1880s in the Vyrnwy Valley to supply fresh water to Liverpool. Experience the walks and trails of the 24,000-acre RSPB Reserve, with viewpoints and hides around the lake to observe the amazing variety of birds and scenery. There are plenty of activities too, including boating, adventure activities, cycle hire, walking and horse trails. There are local craft shops to visit and excellent places to eat.



Oswestry, renowned for its bustling market, independent shops and café culture, is a great place to enjoy a day out and only a 20-minute drive away. Further afield lies Ellesmere, the town is quiet and quite charming. Shopping is traditional with independent shops and a market, and you can stroll from mere to town and then to the wharfage and out along the canal towpaths.
