A good stay in the heart of old Şanlıurfa – with one important consideration There was much that I enjoyed about my stay here. My room was clean and comfortable, with a modern bathroom, and the staff were friendly, helpful and genuinely eager to make my stay pleasant. The traditional Turkish breakfast was generous and varied, and I also appreciated their willingness to store my luggage on my final day until it was time to leave for the airport. For me, one of the real advantages of the hotel is its location in the old city. Balıklıgöl, the museums and restaurants are within walking distance, but there is another benefit that is perhaps less obvious: you are not staying apart from the city in a hotel surrounded mainly by other tourists. You are staying in a real neighbourhood, among the people who live there. Step outside the hotel and you immediately become part of the movement, sounds and everyday life of old Şanlıurfa. I valued that experience very much.

There is, however, another side to being in such a lively neighbourhood. The area has venues hosting traditional Sıra Gecesi evenings, and music from the surrounding area can be clearly heard and may continue until quite late. I found it disturbing when I wanted to sleep. This is part of the neighbourhood rather than something created by the hotel, but light sleepers or guests who prefer quiet evenings should take it into consideration when booking.

Die Unterkunft war überraschend schön, sauber, zentral, sehr freundliche, zuvorkommende Mitarbeitende, hervorragender Service, tolles frisch zubereitetes Frühstück mit frisch gebackenem Brot direkt nebenan vom Bäcker, rundum TOP. Normalerweise bin ich zurückhaltend mit solchen Bewertungen. Aber in diesem Fall muss ich das Hotel loben. Im Übrigen war ich von Sanliurfa in hohem Maße positiv überrascht. Wir werden wiederkommen.
