1. No toothpaste and iron box 2. Instead of soap, body wash could have been better as many people can’t use the same soap. 3. Conditioner was not provided. Only shampoo was given. Washing our hair in hard water without a conditioner was bad. 4. Extra mirror near the wash basin in dining room could have been helpful. 5. Providing water dispenser would have been better but instead they provided just 2 water bottles for 2 people which was not sufficient for 2 days stay. Especially in a state like Tamilnadu where it is hot and you prefer to hydrate your body consistently. 6. The room is on 1st floor without lift. Steps were narrow and high. It would be difficult for old people and disabled people. 7. Wifi did not work initially but worked just before we left. If you are coming for business reasons and relying on internet it is better to have enough mobile data too.

Its a homestay, so no breakfast provided, only a hot water kettle & tea bags provided. WIFI was working very good. Spacious rooms & bathroom. The location of homestay is highly convenient. Its in walkable distance from Madurai Meenakshi Temple & few decent restaurants nearby.

Could have been a bit more cleaner rooms. Also please note that there is no lift facility, so may not suit elders who cannot climb stairs. The rooms are in first floor. Price could have been slightly lower.

Vaigai Homestay has lot o positives going for it: 1. Proximity to the temple: It is just 2 minutes walk from the North Tower of Meenakshi -Sundareswar Temple. You can leave you belonging including footwear in the room and walk to the temple. 2, There are lot of restaurants, tea/coffee stalls and small outlets close by which are open till 10:30 PM in the night and open by 6:00 AM in the morning 3. It is a three room place with one living room with fridge, table and basic confectionaries for coffee etc. Second room has two big beds with AC covering most of the room & two fans to support. The last is a washroom with hot water available 4. It is spacious for a family of 4-6 members. The beds can accommodate 4 adults easily. 5. It is a self check-in with lock to the gate and key to the apartment available. 6. The host Jayakanthan has been very helpful and was available all the time for any concerns. He made checking in and out pretty smooth. Reached out to me ahead of arrival in Madurai.

All the facilities are excellent. A word of caution for someone booking as a family: 1. The space is excellent but if you have senior citizens travelling with you, just be mindful of the stairs to take to reach the rooms. They are about 15 stairs or so but might be tricky for senior citizens 2. It is located in a very narrow street so it might feel little worrying if you are single person travelling very late in the night. I arrived at 11 pm, it is still fine. but if you are arriving midnight you might be worried. It is only the first time. Once you arrive and settle in you are comfortable.
