Duddingston Guest House - Rooms Only

Room only. Great shared kitchen facilities, large enough to cope with full 8 room residency. Shower near room 8 looked great (multi-directional body area and overhead sprays) I could only get the hand held to work which kept slipping to lowest height setting but satisfactory. Great care was taken to remind all guests to be considerate in shared areas, which without exception they were. Bonus was a clean and bright sunny dining room/conservatory with access to a tidy garden and outdoor seating. A great property, right on the bus route (bus stop outside THE JEWELL) with several and frequent buses to Edinburgh Centre SOUTH BRIDGE within 17-30 minutes.

Bedding (pillows) had a "male" smell to it on arrival, luckily my very expensive sleep spray masked the first night and wide open windows did the rest. I had a bit of a panic when my phone died on the bus and I was scared I had not remembered both codes - perhaps a blank courtesy card left on the bed for people to write it down on first arrival might be reassuring. Squeaky floor outside my bedroom 8 right outside the bathroom woke me at 7am most mornings - not sure anything can be done about this cheaply.

The property is very nice, well organized, with everything you need to cook and share your extra food with the other guests. The common area with the views to the garden and the dining tables was our favorite spot

The bigger room was ok, other rooms were small and compact. The location is ok, depends on where you go. Bus stops (The Jewel) are right outside the house to and front Princess Street Edinburgh centre, 30 minutes away. Also by bus or 30 minutes walk to Portobello beach and Muesselburgh (an hour walk.) A big street mall (Jane Kane centre) is about 25 minutes walk wished I knew it earlier. Farmfood is 15 minutes walk. The kitchen facilities were well thought, two sections and fridge's inside had room numbers assigned. The living room which is the solarium is bright and good to sit down for a cup of coffee.

When we checked in, the room smelled the toilet someone after used the smell trapped inside the room, awful. :( really gross, we had to open the windows wide and it was noisy with the traffic yet it was evening and cold. Shared bathrooms. There are two for the whole house (8 rooms?) The bathroom floor was wet most of the time, and kitchen was a bit sticky. The TV in the living room did not have signal.

Nur ein Badezimmer und ein WC für 11 Zimmer! Essbereich sehr lieblos im Wintergarten. Geschirrtücher waren ekelig und die Handtücher im allgemeinen Bereich auch nicht sehr sauber. Achtung! Parkplätze nur an der Strasse ( und von da wurde mein Motorrad gestohlen!)
