Verani Beach Lodge

Mooie locatie direct aan de oceaan. Huisjes om een groentetuin met zicht op de oceaan. Personeel is vriendelijk en er wordt uitmuntend gekookt. Zelfs voor ons die geen vlees eten en al zoveel ei hadden gehad dat we ook dat niet wilden, werd er 2 keer er dag een afwisselende en heerlijke maaltijd bereid.

De eerste dag was er geen elektriciteit en daarom ook geen stromend water. De dagen daarna was er wel elektra, maar ging de pomp die water naar het reservoir moest pompen steeds kapot. Dus ook toen geen stromend water; dus ook geen douche. Volgens de info op booking kan er betaald worden met kaart. Dat geldt alleen voor de overnachting. Shuttle van en naar het vliegveld (50$ enkel; 1,5 uur), eten (30.000 shilling pp per maaltijd) en excursies moeten cash worden afgerekend. Houd daar rekening mee. De dichstbijzijnde ATM is op 1 uur rijden. De lodge ligt erg afgelegen. Alleen de duikschool/resort AfricaDivers ligt op loopafstand. Je bent voor eten en drinken dus afhankelijk van deze 2 plekken waar niet wordt gewerkt met een menukaart, maar waar eten ruim tevoren moet worden besteld. Op het terrein staan veel acaciabomen. Mensen met hooikoorts kunnen daar extreem veel last van hebben als de blomen in bloei staan. Die pech hadden wij omdat de regens al erg vroeg vielen dit jaar.

Kake and his team are fantastic. The structure is simple but the people are very nice and so you feel as a family with a fantastic organization for the excursions, alls done with them.

Excursions and food based on our preferences

Verani Beach Lodge is the place to everybody that wants to experience a true Tanzanian hospitality and nature. The place is quite simple, but has everything you need to enjoy this piece of paradise. Electricity and wifi were available all the time. There is no hot water, but during daytime it was quite warm and it was absolutely enough with this hot weather. The chef, Abu, will prepare for you anything your harts desire. All the meals are available in Verani upon request. Truly delicious cuisine. The beach is unique, full of ancient coral reef and beautiful shells. Nearby you can find a fancy beachbar with sunbeds. You can book inhouse all kind of activities available on the island. Nearby there are also 2 diving centres if you want to enjoy the beauty of coral reef.

It’s right on the beach and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

It would be nice to have a running shower rather than a bucket shower.
