Summary:
Enjoy a stylish experience at this centrally-located place. An old carriage house was transformed by artists to create this comfortable guest space loaded with character and modern design details. It is perfect for a short or long term stay. A fully equipped kitchen is ready for you to prepare meals or you can take a quick walk downtown to one of the many restaurant options within walking distance. Just a 10 minute drive to Notre Dame!
The Space:
Guests have full access to this space (first floor of the Carriage House) and access to the back yard. The back yard is shared with the tenants of the apartment (main) building. The space includes an open concept kitchen, dining, and workspace. It is also a studio apartment with bedroom and full bathroom. The sofa folds out to provide another sleeping spot.
Guest Access:
Get to our home via car, bus, Uber, bike, or on foot (depending upon where you are). Parking is free and easy. Prior to your stay a guest manual will be shared with you that contains details for things such as parking, check-in, and wi-fi.
The Neighborhood:
The Near West Side neighborhood is a diverse, historic neighborhood and one of the oldest in South Bend. The neighborhood has everything from cozy bungalows to sprawling mansions and friendly neighbors from all walks of life.
Within minutes of walking distance to the home are some beautiful places, including: The Oliver Mansion, a 38-room Victorian house, the Studebaker National Museum and The History Museum, the K.C. De Rhodes House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and Tippecanoe Place, Clem Studebaker's historic mansion and restaurant, and the Civil Rights Heritage Center.
Getting Around:
This neighborhood is very walkable with downtown only 10 minutes away. Bicycle access around town is quick and easy, with some streets having dedicated bike lanes. The neighborhood has a bus line that runs every 30 minutes on Western Avenue. We are located 2.5 miles from Notre Dame, and a short drive to the SBN (regional airport and bus depot). Give yourself about 15 minutes to Notre Dame by car; parking on campus can also be difficult, so cabs/Uber or the bus system can provide convenient alternatives.
Uber and Lyft are available in South Bend, as are normal cabs.
Other Things to Note:
This is a lower unit of a two unit building. Much care has been taken to prevent noise transfer but we do ask that you are courteous of potential guests staying in the unit above.
Interaction with Guests:
There is no official check-in. The door code will be provided in your guest portal link along with other information about the house and room.
You may come and go as you please. We love meeting new people but offer privacy as well.

Overall it’s a good stay like the first time I stayed, this is our second time, & everything else kitchen bathroom etc, we just feel the insects we’ve seen should be dusted around every clean up killed a few spiders Iknow the summer is coming but they were around ig cause of moving things around when needed.. definitely recommended place tho fro suree!!
