Everything was great and well thought . The premises are clean and in order . The car park is great. The building is quite old and as every old building none of the floors are on the same level but it adds to the character. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The food was good with good quality ingredients and well cooked and presented.
The heating system was off and we were left with an oil heater while there was no heating in the pub.

Very friendly staff, good food, pleasant ambience in the bar area, great location, decent sized & clean room.
Minor issues such as mattress not the best, room a bit chilly as radiators not on hence used the provided electric standalone one which did an adequate job (running all night) & yes, as has been stated by others, definite faded grandeur with some degree of refurb needed BUT not at the expense of the character of the place, which I liked.

The breakfast and two evening meals were delicious.
The staff were very friendly and the manageress had so much enthusiasm for her role. You could tell how passionate she was about looking after her guests. The building is very characterful but a little run down and needs some investment. We understand that it's under new management so have high hopes for the future of this pub and hotel.
The bedroom was lacking in charm. Although clean and with a comfortable bed, the old vanity unit and other furniture made it feel basic and dated.
The water didn't heat up for the shower, the bathroom door didn't shut properly and the wifi was often so poor that the tv was unuseable. The design of the stairwell being next to our room meant that we could hear frequent comings and goings, doors closing heavily etc.
