The space
- About this space – Honeysuckle House
Beautifully renovated half-duplex in a historic Birmingham neighborhood.
The Honeysuckle House has been a very successful Vacation Rental for more than 4 years with over 315 * 5 star reviews. While we are the new owners, we aim to provide the same exceptional service and hospitality. See previous reviews in the photo gallery.
Sleeps up to 8 guests — perfect for families and groups
Prime location: close to UAB, downtown, Garage Cafe & Bar, and top restaurants
Living Room: large sectional, 65" TV, board games, desk, and craft supplies for kids
Kitchen: fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, cookware, spices, Keurig & coffee pot (pods & grounds provided), and a large dining table
Laundry: washer and dryer included with detergent and dryer sheets
Bedrooms (upstairs):
Master: California king with memory foam mattress, large closet, TV
Second: Queen bed with memory foam mattress, TV
Third: Twin bed + extra twin airbed, dresser (perfect for kids)
Bathrooms: stocked with essentials (shampoo, conditioner, body wash)
Downstairs: bathtub/shower combo
Upstairs: shower only
City noise note: close to the highway — earplugs and sounds machine provided for a peaceful sleep
PARKING NOTES:
- Parking is public parking on the street. Typically during the day you should be able to park 2 cars directly in front of the house but at night it does get busy and can get a bit tricky. We have cones in place to save the 2 spots directly in front of the house but it’s not guaranteed. If parking in not available right in front of house, you may need to park in a little ways down the street. Keep in mind it can get a little tricky at times.
Pet-friendly: $55 per pet - Must be up to date with vaccinations and no fleas.
Guest access
You will access the house from the patio and go to unit A. You will be provided with a specific 4 digital code that will only work during your stay.

This house is not designed to have parties or gatherings. If you plan to have a party, this is not the house for you. If there are more guests than on the reservation amount and we are told there are large gatherings/parties, your reservation will be immediately canceled. We have a zero tolerance policy for parties.
- This property has special local compliance requirements which include a signed rental agreement, ID verification, and a security hold of $1000 (which is not a traditional security deposit, just a pending transaction). As an optional alternative to the security hold, you may opt in to purchase a non-refundable damage waiver provided by a third-party insurance company. Damage waiver purchases are optional. The optional damage waiver is $39 for stays up to 10 nights, with an additional $2 per day for stays longer than 10 nights.
To make this process easy for you, we use a secure and very simple, app-free platform called Happy Guest. It is not an app, and you do not have to sign up for an account - it’s a safe and secure website. It also gives you a guest portal with all the info about the home and all of my favorite local spots.

First and foremost, the communication with the hosts was excellent. The responses were quick and supportive - by far the best of any VRBO host I've ever had. The property was comfortable for our family of four and our two dogs. We have teenage kids, so they each want their own space at night, so the three-bedroom set up was great for them. The property is near the highway, so the floor fans and ear plugs were appreciated and used at night. The living space was comfortable for our family to relax in the evenings, and the kitchen was plenty big for me to cook several meals and eat around the table. We never had any issues with parking in front of the house, but the bar down the street is pretty busy and patrons definitely use up the street parking. The cones protecting parking spaces in front of the property definitely need to be moved out to ensure there's close parking in the evening. The house was set up for our dogs with bowls provided. There is no fenced in yard area if you're bringing pets, so just be ready to walk your dogs around the block a couple times a day. I am a big runner, and the house was very convenient to running through nice, safe areas on sidewalks through the residential areas near downtown and through the UAB campus. Overall a great experience and thanks to the hosts for a great stay.

We came for baseball tournament in Hoover and it was a great location. Clean and responsive hosts with a small hiccup we had! Would definitely stay here again!

The house is in a great location. We loved sitting on the front porch and watching all the people walk to the garage. Parking on the street wasn't a problem because the people respected the cones. Enjoyed having the grassy lot next door for playing fetch. The bedding was nice and there were plenty of clean towels. The bedrooms were comfortably cool because of window units though-bedroom with the single bed was warm so the box fan provided helped.

The property sits in a convenient spot if you have business downtown, and it was cozy and clean. I would definitely recommend this place.
