The property has everything that is required for a holiday let. It was comfortable and extremely spacious with loads of storage space which made a refreshing change. Spread over 2 floors with not one but 2 walk in showers (both with toilet) on both levels. The bedroom is windowless and so quiet that we slept through a thunderstorm and a power cut. The patio balcony was very large with comfortable seating and the most fantastic view of the harbour.

However, the fantastic view came at the cost of an extremely steep climb up to the property. As septuagenarians we managed but I wouldn't recommend for anyone with limited mobility. The property is a good 20 minute walk, up hill and down dale, from the town of Elounda.

The location was good, but the downside of having lovely views over the bay is the fact that it is up a very steep hill, we had a car so made use of that during the day to visit the beach etc, it is about a 12min walk into the town centre, good exercise after dinner. The apartment itself was beautifully fitted out to a very high specification, lots of hot water in the spacious shower, comfy bed, furniture and fittings, exceptional contact from the hosts and a meet and greet from Carmen, nothing was too much trouble for them and they check to make sure everything is ok throughout your stay. Also having beach towels provided was a nice addition. The salt & pepper, Olive oil and snacks left in the cupboard were very welcome.

There were no glasses for longer drinks, and the fact that the balcony between the two apartments is only seperated by a large plant, a more substantial barrier that could still be folded away would enchance the sense of privacy when sitting outside. The downstairs bedroom area does not have any windows, however this is well controlled by AC units and is a spacious area so didnt bother us too much, some guests might not like this aspect, but it is not unusual in properties built on sloping sites.

The apartment was great on all accounts. Everything is new there - we were lucky to be one of the first few guests. The apartment is laid out on two levels. The top level is the entry hallway, a small bathroom and a large fully equipped kitchen and a large terrace which was great in the morning. We had breakfast and coffee there - and then the lower level houses the bedroom, the large bathroom as well as some storage closets and a small anteroom with a TV. The lower level has no windows and a very comfy bed which meant we slept really well.

Poor wi-fi reception below is the only real though not significant (for us) pain point. The "no windows on the lower level" part might be an issue for some people and might become a problem later, if mold starts to pop up. We didn't have either of these problems though. Drive/climb from main road is steep. Again not a problem for us, but word of warning if you're not comfortable driving or walking up narrow steep hills.
