Extremely Disappointing and Rude Customer Service
The only thing likeable about this property was how close it was to East Mersea Hall where a friend was getting married at and the beds were comfy.
The caravan needs some major cosmetic work and customer service needs training. Photos strategically taken to hide the poor upkeep of the caravan; there was ripped vinyl on the wardrobe, uneven and hazardous patio slabs out front decorated with rusty garden furniture, a broken blind, ripped bathroom mat, cleaning products spilled in the bathroom, filthy tea coffee & sugar pots covered in what can only be described as mysterious red gunk and dead spiders everywhere!
All of this could’ve been brushed off as we only stayed one night but to top it off there was no hot water or heating. This made for an awful morning, after such a beautiful evening celebrating, to not even be able to have a warm shower. When this was raised to customer service after check out, I was greeted with an extremely rude and entitled email essentially calling me a liar and making up “allegations” about the state of the caravan to which I promptly responded and expressed my disappointment and I am yet to receive a response. We were offered no apology for anything, not even the lack of hot water, which I find particularly appalling.
We were charged an extra £25 to add an additional guest whose accommodation had fallen through, which we were more than happy to pay but this then took our stay to nearly £150 for somewhere that was absolutely not fit for purpose. This was also explained to the “Guest Experience Team” who said that our booking was more than fairly priced and proceeded to tell us our booking cost nearly £40 less than what it actually did. I sent over proof of what was paid, and again, I am yet to receive a response.
As someone who grew up staying in caravans, I have never experienced one quite as expensive and in as poor condition as this one. I did not expect much from this caravan as I am aware it is a caravan, not 5* luxury stay and it was a last minute scramble booking but in no way could this ever be considered an “ultimate retreat”.
