Trinco Beach Bunks

I stayed at Trinco Beach Bunks for 2 nights and really enjoyed my stay. I arrived in Trincomalee at around 6:30am following an overnight train from Colombo. The hostel was easy to find by tuk-tuk from the railway station. The entrance is on the beach side, with the tuk-tuk able to drop you at the end of the small side road just off North Coast Road. As I arrived well before the 2pm check-in time, I couldn't check in immediately, but Isuru, the owner who lives next door, kindly helped me store my bag until check-in. Isuru was excellent throughout my stay — very welcoming, friendly and happy to give advice about the local area. The hostel itself was quiet and peaceful, which was exactly what I appreciated after the overnight train journey. The room was spacious despite having 6 beds, and the air conditioning was very welcome in the hot and humid weather. The two bathrooms were clean, spacious and well maintained. There were lockers underneath the beds for larger bags, plus additional personal lockers with their own keys. The best feature is undoubtedly the beachfront location. The dorm room opens onto a deck with chairs, from where you can step straight onto the sand. One of the highlights was being able to see beautiful sunrises directly from the property. It was a really special and relaxing setting. The hostel is conveniently located near the main road, with food options and shops nearby. Deer Park, Fort Frederick, the Hindu temple and Buddhist temple are all around a 25-minute walk away, while the railway station is also reasonably close. For a livelier atmosphere, Uppuveli Beach and Fernando's Beach Bar are only a short tuk-tuk ride away. I really liked this balance — peaceful and tranquil at the hostel, with a more social atmosphere easily accessible when wanted. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay and would happily return.

Location is very comfortable and near to bus station. The view from the stay is really good. The staff is very friendly and supportive.

There is no drinking water available.
