Near the Etruscan Coast of Tuscany, just 7 km from the sea, “Podere Mulino Vecchio” is situated in a grove of 300-year-old olive trees. These olive trees stand on land terraced hundreds of years ago with dry stone walls, alongside fig trees, almond trees, and other fruit trees. The house has been extensively renovated using traditional building materials. The 200-year-old, handcrafted mezzane (terracotta bricks) were laid on the travi and travicelli (purlins and rafters). Together with hard-fired Tuscan “mezzane” for the floor, this creates an exceptionally cozy atmosphere.
The cypress-lined driveway leads you into a realm of absolute tranquility.
The terrace features a chestnut wood roof truss covered with old Mezzane. From this terrace, you have a magnificent view of the sea as well as the islands of Capraia and Corsica (on a clear day), and can enjoy the sunsets.
On the southwestern edge of the 34,000 m² property stand the remains of a centuries-old olive mill (hence the name of the Podere). Here we rediscovered and uncovered the two large millstones.
Near Guardistallo. Distances: Cecina 7 km, Bolgheri—home to Italy’s most beautiful cypress-lined avenue—10 km, Volterra 30 km, Pisa 45 km, Lucca 55 km, San Gimignano 55 km, Siena 80 km, Florence 100 km.
The house has 2 separate bedrooms, located to the left and right of the living room. Each bedroom has access to its own bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. The spacious living room features a beautiful cherry wood kitchen (with a Sardinian granite countertop) integrated into the open-concept design, with an adjoining dining area (featuring an antique Tuscan dining table). The living area features a pull-out sofa bed (for 2 additional guests) and 2 armchairs. A flat-screen TV with satellite TV (Astra) and Wi-Fi are available. The house has central heating, ensuring cozy warmth even in winter. In addition, a wood-burning stove with a large viewing window ensures cozy winter evenings.
