The Quay House

Easy walk to pubs and restaurants. Lovely hosts. Delicious breakfast.

Lovely manor-style house, all redone and nicely appointed. I stayed in the “Bamboo Room” which was very comfortable, however, it was a bit tacky. I would have preferred a more formal style that kept with the main areas of the house. There were quite a lot of dead fish and animals mounted on walls, not my thing. Breakfast was fantastic, served in a very lovely conservatory by very gracious staff. The choices of food were fantastic (as was the quality). The owner was a very lovely woman who obviously cares very much about the comfort of her guests. She was a wonderful hostess and provided great advice about the area. This was my second stay and if I get back to Clifden, I will stay there again.

Some of the furniture in the parlor has been well used and the cushions could use more stuffing. I would have loved the option to have some tea in the afternoon, but that is not always an option at a B&B, so not a big issue.

Alles gut

We were greeted on arrival by Toby who took us to our room. The house is furnished and decorated in various maritime and historical themes. The full Irish breakfast was fabulous. We stayed in the Napoleon themed room. The room was extremely spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Overall it was a different and positive experience compared to a branded hotel. We would definitely recommend staying here.

There was nothing negative regarding our stay.
