Alchemist Inn

Another wonderful stay for us during our time in Albania. Our hosts were attentive and responsive to any of our needs as well as welcoming and gracious. Our room was impeccably clean and was a lovely mix of modern while keeping the stone and wood architectural features of its former self. Breakfast was served al fresco at tables shaded by fig trees. We really appreciated the morning shots of espresso! The location is about 1/3 of the way up the street from the Old Bazaar, but most of our time was spent down in the real city of Gjirokaster, which we found to be rich with culture and Albanian hospitality.

Une très belle découverte à Gjirokastër ! Tout a été parfait, de l’accueil jusqu’à notre départ. Nous avons été guidés en vidéo pour trouver facilement le logement et accompagnés jusqu’au parking, ce qui était vraiment appréciable. La chambre est toute récente, très agréable et surtout idéalement située, à deux pas du bazar, du château et d’une magnifique maison ottomane. Un emplacement vraiment exceptionnel pour visiter la ville à pied. Un accueil et un service dignes d’un bel hôtel, avec beaucoup de gentillesse en plus. Une vraie pépite que nous recommandons sans hésiter ! Elle risque de devenir très prisée quand elle sera davantage connue. ❤️

The room is beautifully decorated and has a traditional feel. The bathroom was nice and modern and we had a lovely balcony.

No coffee or tea making facilities which would have been nice to enjoy the balcony in the morning. There was minimal sound proofing - we could hear the above neighbours very clearly and their water tank was really loud in our room. The host was most helpful in sending us a video of how to locate the hotel but it was still difficult and we had to park the car a few mins away from the hotel which isn’t ideal with suitcases and hilly cobbled roads. The hotel is tucked away off the main road therefore you can only walk to access it.
