Region: Littered with rural villages, half-timbered buildings and heritage sites, with links to the neighbouring cities of Manchester and Liverpool, Cheshire offers picturesque landscape scenery in North West England.

Town: Malpas is a charming village deep in the south Cheshire countryside, home to Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, as well as a medieval street pattern. There are ample shops in the area, together with traditional inns, one being The Lion at Malpas, a quintessentially British inn serving delicious food and drink, with beautifully designed seating spaces to relax in, it dates back to the 16th century and is a real gem. The area is scattered with holiday cottages, found tucked away in quiet parts of the town, or in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Without doubt the town's treasure is its church, built of rich red sandstone with good examples of fine medieval work. Malpas lies within the shadow of the Peckforton Hills, is close to Tarporley and the Delamere Forest, with Tilston and Tushingham being within easy reach. There is access to Chester races or Bangor on Dee racecourse, several golf courses and fishing. It is good cycling countryside and boating is one of the pleasures of the nearby Shropshire Grand Union Canal. Cholmondeley Castle and Garden is well worth visiting, one of the region’s top tourist attractions.
