If you’d like to go on excursions, you’ll be spoiled for choice. From the house, it’s easy to reach not only Rome and Florence but also many places rich in history and culture, such as Viterbo and its therapeutic thermal baths, Siena, Orvieto, and countless other towns in central Italy. The Tyrrhenian Sea and the famous Sienese countryside—with towns like Montalcino, Pienza, and Montepulciano—are just an hour’s drive away.
The climate in the area is mild, thanks in part to the presence of the crystal-clear volcanic lake (the largest in Europe), which is suitable for swimming and can even be navigated by private motorboats.
