Clavering Hall is an impressive Georgian seven-bedroom detached country house set on the edge of the sought-after village of Clavering, near Saffron Walden. The property comfortably sleeps up to 14 guests. Set within a generous plot of around an acre, the house combines classic period charm with modern comforts including Wi-Fi, central heating, barbecue, and ample on-site parking.
The ground floor offers a wealth of flexible living space, ideal for larger groups. Accommodation includes a traditional kitchen/breakfast room, a formal dining room, drawing room, and a comfortable living room. Additional rooms include a games room, cinema room and a utility room with a washing machine. The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, freezer, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, and a full range of cookware and tableware.
All seven bedrooms are located on the first floor and are accessed via a beautiful, light-filled galleried landing. The rooms are well proportioned with high ceilings, retaining the character of this elegant period home. The first floor is served by two bathrooms, while the ground floor also benefits from one cloakroom for added convenience.
Outside, Clavering Hall sits within beautiful mature gardens, mainly laid to lawn and bordered by established trees, shrubs, and bushes, providing a peaceful and private setting. The property is approached via a large gravel driveway offering parking for several vehicles. We stayed in Clavering Hall as a group of 14 friends looking for a peaceful weekend cooking, hanging out and taking time away from normal life. We had a wonderful weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed how spacious the house was - the bedrooms are amazing (no bad ones!) and we particularly loved the orange living room which is huge and cosy.
The whole house is well-stocked for 14 people (which is often not the case) and we adored being able to use the garden in the sunshine. The only negatives would be unclear instructions for check in - we accidentally went through the neighbours front garden which they were unhappy about, and the key box code wasn’t given to us at arrival. For the price, I doubt you could find a better place to stay with a big group! We’re considering coming back next year :)
