The 250-year-old former manor house is situated in an idyllic, central village location, nestled within the still-intact estate complex comprising a church, the inspector’s house, and a distillery. The vacation rental is simply and comfortably furnished in a traditional style; in addition to central heating, it features a wood-burning stove, a tiled stove, a kitchen cabinet with a double hotplate and a stove serving as a small kitchenette, a refrigerator, and a small balcony. Instead of a TV, you’ll find Wi-Fi access. In the immediate vicinity, you’ll find the Lilienthal Museum, dedicated to the famous aviation pioneer and featuring replicas of his aircraft, as well as the village church with a rich program of events and services. You can access hiking and biking trails—for example, to the Rhine River, to Neustadt, or to Lake Hohenau—directly from the house. A 10-minute walk takes you to the world’s first airfield, which features dining options and the “Lady Agnes” aircraft, as well as the Gollenberg, which offers an impressive panoramic view, served as the site of early flight experiments, and was even visited by King Frederick the Great, known as “Old Fritz.”
