Grand Prix Sahil Hotel

Location: If you are staying in Baku and plan visiting city center's attractions, old city and boulevard, this location is almost hard to beat considering value for money. For the F1 days, take rooms with a balcony. Metro and bus station 1 minute away if you plan to experience more. Hospitality: The hotel personnel is very kind, precise in their job and always available keeping so a very good impression. Rooms kept very clean, equipped with bathrobe and slippers which I usually experience in high quality hotels only. Tasty coffee. Special thanks to Aysu and Sevda for their politeness and making my stay enjoyable. I will definitely consider staying there again.

Breakfast: Please replace plates with bigger ones, add Tea/Coffee pots on a table and serve Təndir Çörəyi. Menu could be overall improved and it's very easy to achieve with local cuisine. Lights: add more lights to the hall and dinning room. Not sure about all the rooms, mine also felt dark with curtains closed.

Месторасположение — сильнейшая сторона. До метро 1 минута, до бульвара 15, до староготгорода 20. Ьуквально всётза углом. Отель маленький, бутиковый, очень расположен в старом здании, потолки высокие, мне это было важно. Очень дружелюбный персонал. Центр города. Брали номер с балконом, красиво, удобно. Завтраки приятные. Дают сразу на одной тарелке и кофе/чай. Без выбора, но завтрак был очень вкусный. Понравился персонал-администраторы. Тофик и девушка (к сожалению, не ее запомнила имя). Говорят по русски, что конечно плюс.

Фен был с нарушением проводки, Било током :) но его потом заменили. Воду нужно было каждый раз просить. Лестница без освещения. Поднимать чемоданы неудобно.

Even though wonderful people work at the hotel (and the only bright spot during our stay was the lady who served breakfast), the owners really need to think about the condition they're keeping it in, instead of having the staff beg guests to leave a 10/10 rating on Booking. On the plus side, the location in the city is great

To begin with, the hotel name on Booking.com doesn't match its actual name at all. Second, the address listed is incorrect. Although the hotel provided a free shuttle from the airport, even the driver had no idea where the hotel was located. In the end, he dropped us off around the corner, telling us to walk in that direction because it was a one-way street and he couldn't turn there. As it turned out, the hotel was in a completely different place. We spent about an hour walking around the neighborhood; the locals tried really hard to help us, but nobody knew where this hotel was. Worst of all, it was impossible to reach the hotel by phone - no one picked up. When we were completely exhausted from walking around Baku with our suitcases, I walked into another hotel (called Sahil Inn) to ask if they knew where GRAND PRIX SAHIL HOTEL was. The receptionist told us that this was actually the place. When asked why no one was answering the phone, he simply said that he didn't have the phone on him at the moment. Then, he stated that they only accept cash. As a result, I lost money on card-to-card transfers, exchange rates, and ATM withdrawal fees, whereas paying by card would have actually earned me cashback. Okay, so we checked in. "Deluxe Double Room". Deluxe? Seriously? :))) There were cigarette butts, bottle caps, and sunflower seed shells lying around on the balcony. Nobody even bothered to sweep up the trash before the new guests arrived. The room don't just need a refresh, it needs a major renovation. There was a very strong sewage smell in the bathroom. Also, the soundproofing is very poor. It wasn't a huge issue for us, but the noise from the street might really bother some people. It’s probably awesome to sit on the balcony during the Formula 1 race, but the rest of the time, I have no idea how they justify these prices. Our friends stayed nearby in a hotel that was 100 times better and two times cheaper.
