We have been staying exclusively in hotels and guesthouses for the past seven months, and Guesthouse LAPPY has been the loveliest place we have stayed in all that time. Part of that is down to Ureshino itself, and part of it is the beautiful, clean accommodation. But what truly makes LAPPY special is its hosts. Karin and Nayao (and their little son) are incredibly warm and friendly. They put their hearts into running LAPPY. LAPPY is not an impersonal place where you receive a check-in code and never meet your hosts. Karin and Nayao run their café at lunchtime (and also open it in the morning if guests request it), so they are always easy to reach. They are happy to share recommendations and always willing to help. Their presence makes the guesthouse feel warm and full of life, yet they are never overbearing or intrusive. If you want some peace and quiet, they happily give you your space. Any language barriers were always overcome easily and with kindness. They have both travelled a lot themselves and enjoy getting to know other travellers. The rooms are in a traditional tatami style. They are clean and have been renovated, and the shared spaces are very inviting. Ureshino itself is a wonderful place. The local people are very friendly, and the onsen are relaxing. The region is known for its green tea (we highly recommend the tea museum) and its tofu, which is often homemade. We stayed for five days and would have loved to stay longer. We will definitely be back.

I’ve been backpacking and bikepacking around Asia for nearly one year and this is one of my favourite places i’ve stayed at! The family that runs the place and all the staff I encountered are exceptionally friendly and hospitable. The entire house felt very calming and was exceptionally clean throughout out, the dorm beds were spacious and cosy. They run a cafe downstairs with great coffee. They did not have any dynamic pricing despite it being silver week, whereas i noticed other hostels were charging 2-3 times the usual price over this weekend. I wish you every success with the guesthouse and hope to have the chance to return one day!

LAPPYのオーナーとは、宿泊した夜に一緒に飲みに行ったり、チェックアウト後にカフェでお話をしたりしました。ただ泊まるだけでなく、人との交流が生まれたことで、嬉野温泉をますます好きになりました。 宿泊費とは別になりますが、1階カフェでモーニングやコーヒーなどのドリンクも頼むことができるのも良かったです。

ドライヤーは共用部にあります。私は男性だから問題ありませんが、女性の場合、各個室内でメイクしたりドライヤー使ったり、ヘアアイロン使ったりしたいかもしれないな…と思いました。
