The area is full of churches with very distinctive features, as well as an endless selection of all kinds of venues—restaurants, bars, and nightspots—that form the heart of Salerno’s nightlife.

In less than a 10-minute walk, you can reach Salerno’s beautiful waterfront, where you can admire an enchanting view and take a stroll while enjoying an ice cream, go for a run, or rent a bike.

Among the main attractions to visit during your stay in Salerno, Arechi Castle is an absolute must-see. The Medieval Aqueduct, popularly known as the Devil’s Bridges, is said to have been built in a single night—with the help of demons—by the 12th-century magician Pietro Barliario. According to popular superstition, venturing under the arches between sunset and sunrise is said to lead to an encounter with demons or evil spirits.

Continuing along one of Salerno’s main shopping streets, Via dei Mercanti—a charming, ancient street that runs through the entire old town—you can reach the Provincial Art Gallery of Salerno, located on the first floor of Palazzo Pinto, a 17th-century noble residence that once belonged to one of Salerno’s most prominent families.

The Villa Comunale of Salerno is the city’s main garden, hosting various events throughout the year, such as the traditional Mostra di Minerva in April and the renowned Luci d’Artista event during the Christmas season, during which the Villa is transformed into an enchanted garden.
