Meet La Transition, the cozy cabin on wheels that my wife and I built and lived in full-time for about 2 years. It's a fully off-grid, four-season van built by a mechanical engineer, with real heat, real power and fast internet anywhere with open sky. Wake up warm thanks to the 8 kW diesel heater (with a removable 10 L diesel tank for the heater) and Havelock wool insulation. Make breakfast on the propane range and oven, and keep food cold in the DC fridge/freezer. Renters can use Starlink, so you can stream or work remotely from the trailhead. The 300 Ah lithium bank and 600 W of solar keep everything running for days without hookups, and a 20 A shore-power hookup is there when you want it. Hang your wetsuit and load bikes, surfboards or skis into the modular storage. Linens and toiletries are included.
