Incredible attention to detail, luxurious and renovated which after a day of trekking is very welcome. I do think the highlight is the chef and owner preparing a coursed Michelin star chef diner for us with wine and Sake pairing. One of the best meals of my life and it’s like we had a private chef with all local and seasonal products. Absolutely incredible.

Everything was great

TLDR: host is great, place is lovely, food was amazing. highly recommend for a peaceful and restorative stay~ We booked this for a hike through part of the nakasendo trail. Initially we were a little nervous, as there were only a few reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised! The host, Masaya-san, was lovely. He waited outside for us to arrive, showed us around the house, and was very friendly and hospitable in general. The house is beautiful and clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the bath/shower arrangements felt on the simple but luxurious side. We felt super clean and both slept amazingly. Dinner and breakfast were both provided, and the food was INCREDIBLE. Both meals consisted of many smaller servings of carefully designed and plated (Delicious) food, ~10 courses for dinner and ~8 for breakfast (counting the side miso/rice). Tea was provided free, Beer/sake/drinks were available for extra, but the prices are reasonable and we thought the sake was quite good. We weren’t expecting this when we booked, and felt like the meal almost justified the price of the stay by itself - it might have been the best meal we ate on our entire trip. The house was also very conveniently located for exploring Tsumago the following day, which made it very easy to wander around the next day before setting off. We both agreed we felt very relaxed/rested by the stay, and were thrilled by the delicious food. The vibe is more relaxing and peaceful, and the town is very quiet in the evening. This was delightful for us, but it may not be the best for those with hyperactive kids. For those looking for a quality and relaxing stay, I cannot recommend this place enough!
