The Mauthnerhube—commonly known as Mauthner—is a historic stone house steeped in history. The oldest historical map we’ve found shows the property as early as 1674, but the imposing vaulted cellars, built entirely of stone, may be of much older origin. The southeast-facing orientation toward the valley guarantees a beautiful view and sunshine from early morning until late in the day. Starting in June 2026, three newly renovated vacation apartments will be available for our guests!

The Lindenblick and Fernblick apartments each feature a private sauna and hot tub. The Talblick apartment features a private sauna. All apartments offer a beautiful view of the garden, valley, or mountains!

The large swimming pond, with its magnificent view of the southwestern Styrian wine country, is available to all our guests year-round. Sun loungers, patio furniture, and umbrellas are provided for you to relax and unwind!

The new panoramic outdoor sauna with a wood-burning stove is both modern and cozy. The cozy warmth of a wood-burning stove in the sauna is guaranteed to be a whole new experience. At the same time, the view of the valley is breathtaking!

In fall and winter, the apartments should be heated using the wood-burning stove for optimal comfort! However, we’ll already have the apartments heated for our guests upon arrival! Firewood is included! A true cabin experience guaranteed!

We’re Andi & Silvi, and after several years in the hospitality, finance, and construction industries, we’re renovating our historic stone house, Vulgo Mauthner, with great attention to detail! We look forward to welcoming our guests with a bottle of local wine, along with coffee and cake!

Southwestern Styria is still a hidden gem off the beaten path! With its picturesque villages and alpine pastures, it’s an ideal starting point for hikes, bike rides, and excursions to the Buschenschanken (wine taverns). The region captivates visitors with its wines and culinary specialties (pumpkin seed oil, Schilcher wine specialties). The Mauthnerhube is nestled between alpine pastures and forests at 824 meters above sea level. The view of Southern Styria all the way to Slovenia is beautiful and unique! Even on rainy days, you can enjoy the beautiful view from the outdoor panoramic sauna!
